Fr. James Reuter, the well-loved American priest based in the Philippines, passed away last Monday due to lung and heart failure. According to Inquirer, the academic/communicator/singer/athlete/artist/political activist died at 12:51 p.m.; he was 96.
He passed away at the Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Parañaque City, which had been his home for the past three years. He was actually unconscious in the last four days and was being given intravenous fluid and oxygen.
Reuter is most popular for the underground radio station “Radyo Bandido” in the 80s, teaching at the Ateneo de Manila University, and pioneering the Jesuit broadcast communication in the Philippines through the Family Rosary Crusade.
