QC cops to carry their crosses on Good Friday

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano on Sunday announced that policemen who are being reprimanded for minor offenses may literally take up their crosses and follow him this coming Good Friday.

On March 29, Good Friday, Albano will be leading the cross bearers as a form of penance and sacrifice. He is extending the invitation to policemen who have minor offenses – such as being late or absent at the weekly flag raising ceremony at Camp Karingal.

Albano said he and 14 other policemen have already pledged to carry their crosses. A Stations of the Cross has been set up at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.  He noted that the activity is not compulsory but will be a good exercise for cops who have minor offenses.

The QCPD is also holding their own “pabasa”, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
