QC bans plastic election posters

The Quezon City council has banned the use of plastic materials for election posters and advertisements this coming May elections.

The measure will penalize violators with one year imprisonment or a PHP 5000 fine.

According to the Inquirer, the city ordinance prohibits the use of thin plastics but allows PVC-type tarpaulin as these can be reused or repurposed.

The city government’s Environment Protection and Waste Management Department, the Parks Development and Administration Department and the Quezon City Police District have been tasked to enforce the ordinance.
