Protesters troop to Malaysian Embassy in Makati

Militant groups converged at the Malaysian Embassy in Makati City on Tuesday morning to call for an end to the recent spate of violent attacks between Malaysian forces and the camp of Jamalul Kiram III in Sabah.

However, the protesters, headed by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), were met by police and were barred from reaching the Embassy premises.

According to GMA News, the incident caused traffic build up in the area. At the same time, they also reported that the Embassy had to close down temporarily due to the rally.

Earlier last week, the Embassy requested for additional police security in the compound. The police on the other hand, exercised maximum tolerance with the protesters.

No one was reported hurt or injured.
