PNP chief, Director General Alan Purisima, has begun to mobilize preparations for a safe New Year’s Eve celebration throughout the country.
He began by warning the public about the purchase and use of illegal firecrackers and ordering the police force to watch out for vendors of these types of firecrackers.
Purisima also did an inspection of the firecracker manufacturing industry in Bocaue, Bulacan and called on manufacturers and business owners to consider the safety of customers and to conform to standards set by the government.
In coordination with the Department of Health, an information campaign is also being activated aimed at achieving the lowest possible number of firecracker incidents for this year.
Purisima also warned police officers against using their issued firearms to ring in the New Years, implying serious consequences for violators of his orders, Inquirer News reported.
