PNoy applies for gun ban exemption

President Noynoy Aquino, a known gun enthusiast, has filed for exemptions to the gun ban is scheduled to take effect on  Sunday, Jan. 13. The gun ban will be enforced as part of preventing acts of violence and coercion during the 120-day election period for the mid-term elections.

Despite having his own bodyguards, Aquino still wants a gun-ban exemption for one long and one short firearm. Election officials say that he will be using these for practical shooting and stressed that the President’s application will be evaluated like that of any other applicant. All applications will have to be deliberated on by the commission en banc.

ABS CBN News reports that gun ban exemption applications have also been filed by senators and congressmen, among them Senators Bong Revilla, Antonio Trillanes, Miriam Santiago, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, and Majority leader Vicente sotto III.
