Pinoy Catholics urged to fast during Lent

How did you observe Ash Wednesday?

In celebration of the start of Lent, Catholics were urged to abstain from eating meat during Fridays or to fast during the season.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) secretary-general Monsignor Joselito Asis said this yesterday as millions of Filipino Catholics observed Ash Wednesday. Besides the ash, the faithful were expected to abstain and fast during the holy day.

The Church reminded its flock however, that in case fasting or abstinence could not be done (for the rest of the Lenten season), Catholics can do acts of charity instead to make up for it, the Philippine Star reported.
