People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has a well established track record of pushing the envelope in support of causes it believes in. This was readily on display as a group of sexy models and actresses recently posed nude as part of a campaign to relocate Mali, the sole elephant currently residing at the Manila zoo, to a sanctuary in Thailand.
During the photo shoot the models sported placards spelling out the phrase “Naked Truth: Mali the Elephant is Suffering.”
As reported by GMA, PETA has raised concerns over the living conditions of the elephant, claiming that her living space is too small and she is suffering from “loneliness.”
The Manila zoo counters that Mali is adequately cared for and they do not see a reason to transfer her out of the country, fearing that the relocation process itself may jeopardize her health. PETA insists they will continue to press the issue with the general public.
