The Pasig City Council has passed an ordinance aimed at regulating internet use and online gaming in business establishments all over the city.
According to the Manila Bulletin, the ordinance will impose penalties on internet cafes, gaming shops, and computer rental shops who violate the set restrictions and hours of operation.
To simplify, the ordinance says that Internet Cafes will only be for surfing, chatting, emailing and research will not be allowed to host online gaming. Customers who want to play online games or network games will have to go to a computer gaming shop or center.
The ordinance also placed a restriction on the hours of operation of these business establishments. At the same time, the curfew on minors will be strictly enforced. Meaning, if its past 10 p.m. and minors are still playing computer games, they may be asked to leave the shop premises.
