Pasay police nab 7 for selling fake money

Pasay City police have arrested seven suspected members of a counterfeiting gang after they tried to sell an undercover officer fake money.

The Pasay City police were acting on a tip that the group is based in nearby Taguig City and planned to sell the counterfeit bills along Taft Avenue in Pasay. Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca, city police chief, said in a GMA News Online report, that the group was reportedly selling fake P1,000 bills at P300 each.

Police say the counterfeiting ring operates in Metro Manila, Ilocos, and in Southern Luzon. The report said the Pasay City police is also looking into information that the group plans to distribute the fake money “during the campaign period, possibly to help some politicians buy votes.”
