Parts of Quezon City experienced hail on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration confirmed.
The hail storm was caused by thunderstorms, the Philippine Star reported, quoting weather forecaster Chris Perez. Perez said the hail storm was an isolated occurrence. He said “the hail storm is unpredictable. We can’t even predict the movement of clouds. A hailstorm can happen anytime.”
Metro Manila has been experiencing a lot of heat this week, as evidenced by complaints on social media and by going outside in the afternoons. Despite that, Pagasa will not yet officially declare that it’s summer.
That will only happen “when the amihan is no longer present; when a high-pressure area or anti-cyclone is present; temperatures are on the rise and the easterlies or warm air from the Pacific Ocean prevail,” the report said.
