The Northern Police District (NPD) has increased the number of policemen on the streets by fielding cops on bike patrol to Churches and other public areas.
NPD deputy district director for operations Senior Superintendent Pepito Pacada said in a Philippine Star report that policemen on bike patrol used to guard banks and business establishments during regular work days. Now that these establishments are closed, they will instead be fielded to provide security for devotees participating in the senakulo and pabasa.
Pacada added that Caloocan City is a particular are of interest because the crime rate there is higher compared to Malabon, Navotas or Valenzuela.
