The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Tuesday that police officers who are less than stellar marksmen cannot bear arms.
PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima was quoted in a Philippine Star report as saying that police officers who are about to be issued firearms will be tested on their shooting proficiency first. If they fail the marksmanship tests, they will not be issued a gun.
The PNP chief added that police officers all over the country regularly take proficiency training to enhance their skills in handling firearms and shooting at targets.
