NLEX Harbour Link build to start in January

The Manila North Tollways Corp. has scheduled the construction of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) link to MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City on January 2013. An estimated P1.6 billion is allotted for the construction of this 2.1 kilometer expressway, also referred to as segment 9, which would take approximately one year to complete.

MNTC president and CEO Rodrigo Francisco reported that they had already filed a request for construction at the Toll Regulatory Board and that they have completed most of the right-of-way acquisition so they are ready to begin construction beginning of 2013.

The MNTC will also begin construction of the seven kilometer link from segment 9 to segment 10, which is the C3 in Caloocan City, next year.

The whole project is expected to be completed by 2015 and will include the construction of an elevated highway that will run the course of the existing Philippine National Railways (PNR) rail. The total cost of the project is estimated at P8-billion.

Another project of the MNTC is a P10-billion connection between NLEX and C5. MNTC was also recently granted the right to operate and maintain for 33 years the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway.

The MNTC has just recently completed the NLEX-Mindanao Ave. link which runs for 2.7 kilometers and features the largest cloverleaf interchange in the country, ABS CBN News reported.
