New Year’s injury toll: 697

The Department of Health today revealed that the number of New Year-related injuries has reached 697.

Health official Eric Tayag said that of the number, 675 were from firecrackers, 20 from stray bullets, and two were caused by firecracker ingestion.

ABS CBN News reported that this year’s number is 29% lower than the 984 injuries recorded in 2011.
