At least 20 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigaytions (NBI) in Quezon City for their alleged involvement in a transnational crime syndicate.
NBI NCR division chief Efren Meneses said the syndicate operates similar to the local “budol-budol” gang which collects money and valuables from unsuspecting family members. They would place calls to mainland China from Quezon City.
Meneses said the raids were made upon the request of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office after the calls were traced back to the Philippines, ABS CBN News reported.
