Youth Commission: Shut down everything…for Earth Hour

The National Youth Commission is calling on young Filipinos to go beyond switching lights off during Earth Hour on March 23. It said  the country’s youth should also shut off their laptops and smartphones.

“Here at the National Youth Commission, we’ll not just be turning off our lights, we shall also turn off our Internet, and other utilities for one hour,” NYC commissioner Erwin Andaya said in a press statement.

“Earth Hour is among the most significant efforts of humans to give back to nature.  We may never truly replace what is lost, but we can do something about those that are at risk environmentally,” he also said.

Earth Hour is an annual event organized by the World Wildlife Fund where people voluntarily shut off their lights and appliances. The event is meant to spread awareness of the need to live more environmentally sustainable lives.

If you shut off your smartphone during Earth Hour, though, how are you supposed to tweet about participating in Earth Hour?
