MVP Telethon raises over P100 M in six hours for Pablo victims

The MVP group of companies on Monday organized a telethon with hopes to raise P100 million pesos for the benefit of typhoon Pablo victims. After only six hours, the telethon was able to raise a total of P100,883,942.

Using its network of media companies, the MVP group kicked off the telethon on TV5, Aksyon TV and Radyo Singko. Various offices were used to house the operations including TV5’s Novaliches office, its satellite studio on Broadway Center, the Meralco Compound in Ortigas and the Quirino Highway warehouse.

TV5 celebrities, media personalities and endorsers of the MVP group of companies participated in manning phone lines and accepting pledges.

The company’s Tulong Kapatid program accepted the contributions and directed them to the Alagang Kapatid Foundation.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, who heads over 20 companies, explained that he got the idea of organizing a telethon when he received a text message from US Ambassador Harry Thomas. The telethon was organized within a day and ran for six hours.

President Benigno S. Aquino III and Vice-President Jejomar Binay expressed their appreciation for the initiative, Interaksyon.com reported.
