The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is targeting 1 million followers on Twitter by 2013, reported ABS-CBN. Its Twitter account currently has over 429,000 followers.
According to Yves Gonzalez, the MMDA traffic discipline office director, has been providing its followers with crucial info especially last August, when the habagat floods happened.
“That was exactly the kind of event that we were made for. We were able to collect information from the public and immediately disseminate it and avoid people getting stuck in floods and avoid unnecessary traffic,” he said.
