MMDA to expand speed limit area in Commonwealth

Dubbed as the “killer highway”, Commonwealth Avenue is a 12-kilometer long road where speedsters have the time of their lives; often at the expense of others.

To curb the number of accidents and deaths in the area, MMDA official Emerson Carlos said they are looking at expanding the area covered by the 60 kilometer-per-hour speed limit on Commonwealth Avenue.

He explained that the speed limit is currently enforced over a portion of the road from Philcoa to the Sandiganbayan. The MMDA will be extending the speed limit up to Doña Carmen Avenue.

The implementation date has yet to be announced since the agency still has to receive the two additional speed radar guns needed for the project, Inquirer News reported.
