MMDA receives flak for lack of streetlights on EDSA

Following complaints about dimly-lit portions of EDSA, the MMDA has explained that the lampposts on the 23-kilometer stretch of highway are the responsibility of “several entities.”

On Wednesday, the MMDA posted a reply on its Facebook account:

“Edsa streetlights are managed by several entities. Streetlights on Edsa Buendia-Ayala [are] under the responsibility of DPWH; Edsa Taft-Roxas, MMDA; Edsa Shaw, Mandaluyong [City government]; and Edsa Buendia flyover, Makati [City government].”

According to an Inquirer News report, the MMDA has been receiving flak for its alleged inaction over the lack of street lights on EDSA.

One Facebook user, Ronnel Cuison, called the attention of the MMDA but was referred to the DPWH.

The MMDA explained that Cuison was referring to the Edsa Buendia-Ayala stretch which reportedly falls under the jurisdiction of the other agency.
