MMDA pushes to reduce ‘empty buses’ on Edsa

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has a plan to reduce the number of empty buses on EDSA. These buses, they said, just choke up traffic as they try to get more passengers.

MMDA officials met with 20 bus operators and presented a draft plan to form “self-regulating consortiums.”organized chiefly by bus destinations, garage locations and routes.

In an Inquirer News report, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the new scheme could possibly reduce the number of city buses by half.
