The Metro Manila Development Authority has added 100 high-tech closed-circuit television cameras to help it monitor traffic and emergencies in the metropolis.
The 100 Ex-Sight cameras come from Israel “with the latest video software and WIMAX wireless connection”, the Philippine Star reported. The cameras can also function as public address systems and are programmed to trigger alarms “on certain events that will allow the MMDA to respond in real time.”
Most of the cameras, 56, have been installed along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue, another 14 are along Aurora Boulevard, while España and Quezon Avenue have four cameras each.
“With the deployment of these surveillance cameras, Metro Manila’s security environment is now enhanced. Other government agencies and law enforcers will be able to respond immediately through the use of this effective wireless communication throughout the metropolis,” MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said.
