Metropolitan Manila Development Administration (MMDA) ‘s Traffic Discipline Office Head Yves Gonzales has announced that the problematic MRT Bus Link project has been temporarily deferred following its less than impressive run on Wednesday.
The MMDA official tweeted the news after the first day of the dry run was considered by the public as an “epic fail”. The MRT 3 Bus Link project was supposed to be tested for three days to see if the public will respond well to taking the bus rather than stand in line for hours at MRT 3 stations.
The chartered buses were supposed to ferry passengers from the North Triangle station across EDSA every 15 minutes. However, the lack of coordination between the MRT 3 Management and the MMDA resulted in the chartered buses being flagged down by MMDA agents for using the regular lanes and passing through underpasses.
MRT 3 Management had come up with the plan in the hopes of addressing the overwhelming number of commuters during rush hour. The bus link project was a stop-gap measure until additional trains could be purchased, GMA News reported.
