In the aftermath of a bloody courtroom shooting in Central Cebu City yesterday, Metro Manila area courtrooms are imposing more stringent security measures, particularly in higher profile cases and hearings.
The regional trial court in Pasay City has ordered more comprehensive inspections of anyone entering the premises. Security personel are now required to use metal detectors and perform baggage searches as preliminary measures.
As reported in GMA News Online, court security is also expected to collaborate more closely with local police to ensure the safety of people involved in high profile court hearings.
The Pasay Court is handling some well publicized cases, including the electoral sabotage case between ex-President Gloria Arroyo and the former election poll chairman Benjamin Abalos.
