Manila’s newest tourist guides aren’t human

The Department of Tourism will be putting up digital information kiosks across Metro Manila to help tourists get around the city.

According to the Tourism department, it has entered into an agreement with Illuminate Dynamic Media, Inc, which will handle the deployment and maintenance of the information kiosks at airports, hotels, malls, bus, and train stations.

The kiosks will provide tourists with up-to-date information on businesses, accommodations, places of interest, as well as exchange rates, sales, and events. The kiosks will also have a device charger, a digital photo booth, and a WiFi zone, the DOT said.

“This is what 21st century tourism is all about: fast, easy, and convenient travel information. Hopefully, these high-tech tourism officers will not only further add that charm to our airports, bus terminals, train stations, but also become a source of pride for us as a people of ingenuity and innovation,” Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. said.
