Manila Vice Mayor and Councilors released for lack of evidence

Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno and five city councilors were ordered released by Manila chief fiscal Elaine Yarra-Cerezo today due to lack of evidence.

Moreno and councilors Joel Chua, Re Fugoso, Jong Isip, Yul Nieto and Let-Let Zarcal were arrested by police on Saturday for allegedly taking part in a bingo game in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Police said they found bingo cards with the names of Isko Moreno and his running mate, former President Joseph Estrada.  Moreno alleged that the police exerted violence on him and the councilors during a scuffle.

The Manila Police, on the other hand, said they will continue to investigate the matter and find more evidence against Moreno and company, ABS CBN News reported.
