Manila policeman sacked over alleged torture

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim on Wednesday fired one of Manila’s finest over the alleged torture of an 18-year-old suspect while in police custody.

Newly installed Custodial and Detection Section (CDS) Chief Inspector Danilo Anselmo was relieved of his post due to the alleged torture of 18-year-old Romeo Viado.

He was brought in for questioning as a suspect in the killing of 17-year-old Melvin Lingon at Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.

Viado was detained at the CDS office. CDS members claim that Viado was tortured by fellow inmates, The Philippine Star reported.
