Man arrested for fake gun ban exemptions

A scam artist believed to part of a syndicate offering fake gun ban exemptions was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday.

Arrested was Ricardo Villaflor III, 42, of Villa Beatriz in Old Balara, Quezon City.

The NBI conducted an entrapment operation at a Manila mall and nabbed Villaflor. He had with him three fake IDs, including one from the Armed Forces and another one from the national police.

When interviewed, the suspect said he had a source at the Comelec’s filing division and he provided him with a copy of the really gun ban exemption documents. The suspect and other members of the syndicate sell these exemptions at P5,500 each.

According to the NBI, they have received complaints from over 20 victims, Inquirer News reported.
