LP’s Manila proclamation rally draws crowds

Amidst traffic, campaign jingles, speeches and yellow confetti, one could really tell that it was election season in the City of Manila on Monday.

On April 1,  re-electionist Mayor Alfredo Lim, backed by his supporters and party mates at the Liberal Party, held their proclamation rally at the Bonifacio Shrine in Plaza Lawton.  President Benigno Aquino III officially proclaimed Lim as their candidate for the May 13, 2013 elections.

The President did not mince words against the party’s political opponents. However, the Philippine Star observed, that he had nothing bad to say against former President Joseph Estrada who is Lim’s archrival for the Mayoralty seat.

Estrada, who used to be the Mayor of San Juan, was born in Tondo, Manila.  His running mate is incumbent Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, who also used to be showbiz celebrity.
