Lay off the lechon if you don’t want a heart attack

Lechon is a Noche Buena staple, but the Department of Health (DOH) is reminding everyone to avoid eating too much of it because it can lead to heart attack.

“If one must eat lechon, he or she must bear in mind some important dietary reminders, which include eating less pork, using a small plate when eating, including vegetables in the diet, especially those rich in carbohydrates and protein and drinking lots of water,” warned the DOH.

According to Interaksyon, lechon capital La Loma in Quezon City has already sold around 150 roast pigs. So it looks like apart from firecrackers, we also need to stay away from lechon this New Year’s Eve.
