On Holy Tuesday, 34 couples from Manila participated in the “Kasalang Bayan” or mass wedding officiated by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim at City Hall.
This annual activity is aimed at assisting Manila couples who do not have the money to spend for a civil wedding. The local government helps them make the process hassle free as well by helping the couples complete their documents, seminars and registration.
According to the Journal, the Manila City government will also shoulder the fees for obtaining their marriage licenses and will even deliver the said papers straight to their doorsteps.
