We’re not at all surprised that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is facing resistance from the thousands of street vendors in the Baclaran Redemptorist Church area whom they are trying to tame after all these years. A couple of days after implementing their new “zoning scheme” where vendors are assigned to occupy one area of the busy Church vicinity, hundreds of vendors are said to be defying the MMDA by going back to hawking their wares on the streets.
GMA News reports that MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino is working to make adjustments to address the issue.
