Finally! A nationwide gun ban starts this Sunday, Jan. 13, according to ABS-CBN News. And the Commission on Elections is making sure they are prepared for this. According to The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rene Sarmiento, they are “prepared to install these checkpoints to eliminate electoral violence” together with the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Apart from firearms, also banned are airsoft guns and other deadly weapons such as bladed instruments. The ban is from Jan. 13 to June 12.
