‘Gangnam’ bus terminals coming to Manila soon

Plans to build an integrated bus transport system reminiscent of the Gangnam district in Seoul, South Korea, is in the final stages, according to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino explained that integrated bus system will feature tickets with assigned seat numbers. More importantly, the arrival and departure of all buses will follow a strict schedule. He noted that public buses in the Gangnam district stay less than 10 minutes in the bus terminals.

The MMDA chief said designated seat numbers will be a great security method against snatchers and robbers.

The MMDA has been working closely with Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson and Transportation and Communications Secretary Jun Abaya to set up the first three of these integrated bus terminals in Metro Manila.

The MMDA will be responsible for the southwestern terminal, which will be situated along Coastal Road. This will give the public access to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT).

The Department of Public Works and Highways, on the other hand, will be tasked with southeastern terminal, which will be built in FTI complex in Taguig.

Abs-cbnnews.com reported that the Transportation and Communications department will look into the northern bus terminal which will set up near Mindanao Avenue leading to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
