Manila City Mayor Alfredo Lim has ordered a funeral parlor in his city investigated for allegedly disrespecting the remains of a 20-year-old female robbery victim.

According to a Philippine Star report, relatives of Kristine Dawn Concepcion who went to Universal Funeral Homes in Sta. Cruz, Manila to identify the body, were shocked to find the body exposed. “Why did they have to strip the girl naked and not bother to cover her body?,” Lim said.

The funeral parlor could be penalized with a warning or even closed down. “They have to monitor or discipline what their (male employees) are doing…They should give due respect to the dead,” Lim said.

Concepcion, who worked for a hotel in Makati City, was shot point blank in a robbery on a jeepney on March 6. Manila Police say they suspect Melvin Balajadia, supposedly a member of the Sigue Sigue Sputnik gang, of the crime. They have asked the suspect’s family to convince him to surrender to authorities.
