Free Reproductive Health consultations along LRT-1

DKT Reproductive Health, Inc., a private provider of contraceptives, will be offering free reproductive health and family planning consultations along Light Rail Transit Line 1 starting Wednesday.

The free consults will be at the LRT-1’s EDSA, Baclaran, Doroteo Jose, and Roosevelt stations, according to a Philippine Star report.  DKT will be at those stations on March 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 20, 22, 27, and 29.

DKT is offering the consultations as part of its Filipinay campaign, which, according to its website, is meant to empower women to make “a conscious decision to exercise her right to decide on what she feels is best for her body, her future, her family, and ultimately, herself.”

Education on reproductive health options is among the programs under the Reproductive Health Law, which was enacted in December last year. The government has yet to issue implementing rules for the new law, though.

The Department of Health is holding public consultations for those rules in Manila, Cebu, and Davao. The DOH is meeting non-governmental organizations on Friday at the Century Park Hotel.
