Four men face criminal charges for death of US Embassy employee’s spouse

Three businessmen and a student have been charged with murder for stabbing the husband of a US Embassy employee at the Bel-Air Village in Makati last Saturday.

The four suspects identified as Crispin dela Paz, 28; Juan Alfonso, 24; Osric Cabrera, 2; and Galicano Datu III, 22, were presented at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office for an inquest at 1:00 pm on Monday.

Police reports presented that the victim, George Anikow, a Bel-Air resident, was undergoing a procedural check at the Kalayaan Avenue gate of Bel-Air at 4:20 a.m. of Saturday when the four pulled up in a Volvo SUV.

Anikow allegedly approached the vehicle and instructed the four that they needed to present their ID to the guards. When ignored, he supposedly tapped the car window which angered the passengers of the vehicle and resulted in an argument and the succeeding stabbing. As the suspects tried to flee, they were arrested by policemen who responded to the scene.

Anikow was brought to the Makati Medical Center where he died while undergoing treatment.

The US Embassy declined to provide details regarding the victim but said that they are going to cooperate with the PNP in the investigations, Interaksyon.com reported.
