The first day of the MRT bus dry run left commuters angry and late for work on Wednesday morning.
The chartered buses, which tried to ferry a portion of MRT 3 passengers across EDSA, were flagged down by MMDA personnel twice for using the underpasses. According to reports, MRT 3 management failed to get special permits from the MMDA which would allow them to use regular lanes and underpasses.
The dry run resulted to commuters being late for work. Some of the bus passengers also wanted to get off the bus when they reached Cubao due to the slow pace of the trip.
The chartered buses only had three official stops: Ayala Avenue, Magallanes and Taft Avenue.
Even though the passengers were only charged PHP 15 for the bus fare, they said they would still rather brave the long queues at the MRT station than be late for work, ABS CBN News reported.
