Fewer kidnap for ransom cases in 2012

The Anti-Kidnapping Group department of the National Police have noted a significant decline in the number of kidnap for ransom cases in 2012.

PNP-AKG director, Senior Superintendent Renato A. Gumban noted however, that they are still keeping close tabs on copycat gangs known for snatching victims and asking for ransom payments thru money transfer.

Gumban cited as an example a 10-year-old boy from Laguna who was rescued last Saturday. The London-based grandmother paid Php50,000 via Smart padala, The Journal reported.
