FEU ‘sprinter’ recovers phone from snatcher

It pays to be a varsity sprinter.

17-year-old Josephine Quinones, a freshman at Far Eastern University (FEU), almost lost her phone to a snatcher in Kalaw st along United Nations Avenue in Manila on Thursday morning.However, she had the presence of mind, and the training, to run after the young thief.

According to reports, Quinones was aboard a passenger jeep when the suspect grabbed her cellphone and pushed her. Much to everyone’s surprise, the FEU varsity sprinter alighted from the jeepney and began running after the suspect.

She was able to catch up with him and ask help from the police. The snatcher was turned over to the MPD headquarters on UN Avenue, Inquirer News reported.
