The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning against skin whitening and teeth bleaching products that contain high amounts of Mercury.

FDA acting director Dr. Kenneth Hartigan Go said they have recently confiscated cosmetic and toothpaste products which originated from China and Korea.

These products are said to have high amounts of mercury which is known to cause brain and kidney damage. The FDA said the products had 12 to 25 ppm (parts per million) when the acceptable amount is just .5 ppm.
