A man posing as a traffic enforcer in complete uniform with ID flagged down Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino on Sunday as he was on his way to a speaking engagement along Roxas Blvd. at 6:30 p.m.
Reports identified the fake traffic cop as Edwin M. Vicentino, a former traffic enforcer who had stopped reporting for duty a year ago so he has been dropped from the force since. He will now be facing usurpation of authority charges.
Tolentino now warns the public to beware of such people posing as traffic enforcers, especially during this holiday season and to report any identified corrupt officers through MMDA’s metrosolusyon.mmda.gov.ph website. He also appeals to the public to use the same website to report people who are caught bribing officers or any commendable deeds of MMDA officers.
According to Tolentino, the MetroSolusyon website is MMDA’s way of providing the public with a venue to participate in making the metropolis clean and corruption-free.
