She’s fit to travel, but not well enough to stand trial…
Lawyers of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo were able to pull a fast one again. They convinced the Sandiganbayan to allow the former president to leave the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City to visit the graves of her parents today, All Saint’s Day.
Arroyo’s spokesman Raul Lambino said they provided the Sandiganbayan’s First Division with a copy of her medical certificate stating that she is fit to travel to and from the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Her parents, former President Diosdado Macapagal and Dr. Evangelina M. Macapagal, are both buried there.
The Interaksyon.com report also said that Representative Arroyo has strictly six hours to visit the graves. She was also instructed to not grant media interviews.
The former president has been under hospital arrest at the VMMC since Oct. 4 on plunder charges. She is being charged with misusing P366 million from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
