EcoWaste Coalition issued a statement requesting devotees of the Black Nazarene to keep the procession garbage-free not only as part of their “civic duties but also as an act of worship and devotion.”
With millions of devotees expected to join the procession, the environmental watchdog is concerned about the trash generated during the event. The group urged attendees to bring their own reusable bags for souvenirs, and to throw their trash and garbage into designated trash receptacles along the route.
They also advised vendors to use biodegradeable materials for packing food for sale, Inquirer News reported.
