Duped bag collector shells out P1.3M for fake bags

Attention, bag collectors: be very, very careful when buying designer bags, especially when you buy them from people online.

A 21-year old businesswoman, who also collects designer bags, was the victim of an online reseller on Instagram who sold her two fake bags: a bubblegum pink Hermes Birkin (P660,000) and an orange Hermes Birkin (P690,000). The bag collector got the bags delivered to her house in January but only got to open them later that month, after giving birth. It was only when she decided to resell them that she found out they’re fake. Everyone she consulted about the bags told her they’re fake, even the Hermes store in the Philippines.

Now all she wants is her money back. But the reseller, even after agreeing to return the money if a Birkin expert could prove the bags are fake, still refuses to return her money.

The bag collector charged the reseller with estafa before the National Bureau of Investigation, according to Philstar.
