Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez maintains that the 4.5 million target of foreign tourist arrival for 2012 is still attainable. This statement, he says, is based on tourist arrivals for the past nine months.
Reports said that among the 3,149,985 foreign arrivals, Koreans ranked number 1 with 23.9 percent share. The US came in next with a 15.41 percent share, while Japan, China and Taiwan came in successively with 10 percent, 6.25 percent and 5.44 percent shares, respectively. All the arrivals from these countries showed an increase from last year’s numbers.
Other foreign tourists include Australians, Singaporeans, Hong Kong nationals, Canadians and British nationals.
To support the drive for tourism, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 outlet of Duty Free Philippines was recently renovated by well-known French interior designer Philippe Larose in collaboration with Architect Frederick Chevassus.
