After a batch of 41 prosecutors was approved by President Aquino last July, another batch—made up of 140 new prosecutors this time—was approved last Oct. 19, according to a philstar.com report.
The hiring of additional people was made to boost the law enforcement and prosecutorial duties of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said in a statement, “Overall, the justice system reform agenda requires investment in people with adequate training and ethical orientation coupled with simplified procedures and pro-active problem-solving attitude.”
The DOJ has also promoted state prosecutors and assigned them to crucial posts.
