DOH says dengue cases in Metro Manila on the decline

Fewer residents in Metro Manila suffered from dengue fever compared to the same period last year. The Department of Health reported on Thursday a 74% decrease in the number of cases compared to January to February 2012.

DOH Center for Health Development for the NVR Dr. Eduardo Janairo said there were only 575 dengue cases from January 1 to February 2 this year. This is significantly lower than the 2,208 cases recorded during the same period last year.

According to the DOH, majority of the cases were from Manila with a total of 108. The second leading was Quezon City with 96 dengue cases.

Majority of the dengue patients were male, with an age range of 15 to 49, ABS CBN News reported.
