The health department has already documented 44 separate cases of firecracker related injuries to date, 14 of which are from the city of Manila.
Health Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag reiterated their appeal for citizens to use alternative noise makers to welcome the New Year. He added that they are considering calling for a partial or total firecracker ban in the country.
